Started in 1918 by our Papou Tom and Uncle Pete, the original Marathon Restaurant was all about family and food. We honor that founding and we keep it in the family – Marathon Diner is owned and operated by Papou Tom's grandson and his family.
Our beginning
Papou Tom and Uncle Pete opened the first Marathon restaurant in 1918 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The current Marathon Diner pays homage to its roots, keeping homestyle meals at the center of what we do.
